Camera lens [1966.28.74]
'Hypergon' wide-angle camera lens made by C.P. Goerz, Berlin, Germany in around 1915. This lens covers an angle of 130 degrees and was patented in 1900. The star-shaped fan is rotated by a pneumatic device was used to counteract the tendancy of the spherical surface lens to give more exposure to the centre of the photographic plate than the outer parts. It was part of a large collection of photographic apparatus donated to the Museum by J. T. Chapman Ltd and may have been retailed by the company.
